Last Caching of 2008

Some of these I got on a caching trip to Lebanon to do some evening gaming, some of these I got with Orange Crash and some of these I got driving north. Kinda a potpourri weekend.

The Christmas Hunt

After gorging on way too much dinner I headed out with Bear, our newest geo-dog, and went in search of the elusive Christmas Cache. We went 4 for 5 today before the light left us and it was too dark to search anymore. Home for seconds!

Quick Find After Work

Once we became premium members we were allowed access to lots of different functions. One of those functions is to have an automatic e-mail sent whenever new caches are posted in your area. Well, this one popped up in my e-mail while I was at work and I thought I would get it on my way home as it was only a half mile from the house. I thought there was an outside chance of getting a FTF. I ended up being 4th to find.

Caching Before The Snow

On a one horse open sleigh... I just couldn't resist. I finally found my first, first to find, "Looking Out For Number 2". It popped in my e-mail around 2:30 in the afternoon but I didn't see it until almost 7pm. I went out in the rain and dark, armed with a flashlight and a pretty good idea of what I was looking for and there it was.

I went out Saturday AM and drove south and picked up several that have been on my list. It was cold, around 38-39 degrees with snow to the valley floor tonight and tomorrow predicted. I'm so excited.

Almost First To Find (F2F)

Okay, so I get these e-mails telling me when new caches pop up in my area. One popped late Wednesday night and I thought I might have an outside chance to get it Thursday morning before work. I loaded up the coordinates and I left around 7:30. I found the cache pretty easily though I was a bit disappointed to find out that I was the 4th person to sign the log! The person to get the F2F wrote down that they were there at 5:45AM. Man is it hard to get a F2F in this town!

Freakin' Cold Caching!

I got out this weekend for some caching down Tangent Drive on Saturday and tried to pick up a few new ones on Sunday. I found most I searched for on Saturday though I went 2 for 4 on Sunday. When I left on Saturday AM it was 29 degrees but the sun was shining. Sand Ridge Hangout had a fantastic view of Peterson Butte in Lebanon. You could almost reach out and touch it. I have been experimenting with paperless caches using my Palm Pilot. It worked out fairly well though I have to develop a system to keep track of finds vs. DNF's.

December 2008

These next three I found during work hours. We had just been told that due to budget issues my work was closing down for two weeks during Christmas, and I just needed to get away for awhile. I suppose that it's still good that I have a job in this economy!
